ABOUT PHCOEM

If you’re wondering about our club, you are likely already a fan of Jimmy Buffett (that’s a pre-requisite), the Caribbean life style, fun, and relaxation. You probably also find yourself attracted to Hawaiian shirts, lei’s, shark hats, grass skirts, palm trees and the like. In a nut shell, you fit right in!

On April 8, 1994, our club became  a chapter of the larger Parrot Heads In Paradise national club (www.phip.com) of which there are over 200 clubs internationally with the philosophy of Partying for a Purpose.  We are a tax-exempt 501(c)7 and we are incorporated in the State of Massachusetts.

We have a Bored of Directors to keep things going, all volunteer their time, and everyone pays dues. Club membership is $25 for one and $30 for a couple/family per year.

We are very proud of our community and environmental work! Our primary charity is the Massachusetts Special Olympics. We organize club members, and volunteer to help out at athletic games throughout the year.  We help put on a yearly dance at the summer games, giving the athletes, coaches and volunteers fun music and blow-up instruments/tattoos, the smiles and all the thank yous cannot help but warm your heart.  We also do some fund-raising to help get the athletes the equipment they need to compete, and we have a great time doing it!

But that’s not all we do. We participate in a number of other charities and environmental issues that are important to our members. If one of our members wants help with something important to them, we help organize other members in our club that are willing to help out too. We have an active group of approximately 200 members in Massachusetts located from about Worcester east to the coast.

What about social events? Our club holds regular, and some irregular, get-togethers sometimes an impromptu get together right after a volunteer event. Our gatherings include monthly membership socials, parties for special events, day events, weekend events, etc. Come join us for a boat cruise, holiday party, road rally, camping trip, beach clean up, or Halloween party!

There is also an annual New England Parrot Head Convention each year in the Feb-March timeframe that all Northeast Regional clubs participate in. We keep our members informed of events at other Parrot Head clubs around the country too, just in case you’re traveling and want to meet up with some folks that share your interests. We don’t limit our invitations to members only either, all are welcome, you just need to like Bubba’s music.

We keep our members up-to-date with the latest news through our newsletter, the 3/4 TIMES. You’ll get the latest member, club, and Buffett news from around the globe. We also have a web site (www.phcoem.com), and we have an e-mail list service for you to share your favorite Buffett experiences, and get club news as it happens.

The most valuable asset in our club is the membership itself. You won’t find a nicer bunch of people anywhere. Doesn’t matter where, when or how you meet a club member, you’ll be glad you did. Whether you want to share a concert story, margarita recipe, or whatever, these folks are here to help, listen, and have fun. To get the most out of this club all you have to do is be an active member, it’s all about escaping the hum drum with a change of latitude.
